May your transition into the post-Gourmet world be fruitful. Glad to follow you here. One request: please consider continuing the frugal tip o' the week/day...or at least highlight some tidbit you learned in a longer post, just for the lazy or others of us (your people!) who do not always find the time to read an entire post. grazie!

I think what you're doing is great!

I heard about your experiment months ago on a Marketplace podcast and again on Friday. Sorry to hear about Gourmet.com. Was just telling my CEO about your new blog and my company is interested in bartering a full featured professional design, and a high end hosting account for this blog. Shoot me an email, I'd love to discuss the possibilities.

Okay, I seem to have figured out the key to posting on your site.

I went back to school at 49 after raising my daughter. Now I'm 52 and have change schools and majors once. Would consider it again but I think my husband would revolt.

Keep up the good work, Hodding. You remind me of George Plimpton when you say you are an unapologetic generalist! That's what I love about your writing. Don't know if you'll make enough money to make this blog economically worth it, but your public will follow you I'm sure.

Now I need to find Barry Eastabrook! Hang in there!
